There are actually two different installs of NDI that can work here. The OBS plugin, and the software suite called NDI Tools. The OBS plugin can be downloaded from their forms, and installs alongside an OBS install. This means that only content captured within OBS can be sent. The alternative is you can install NDI Tools, which allows you to open up capture to anything on your computer. You don’t even need to have NDI installed if you don’t want to. There are also some really awesome other tools like NDI Webcam, Studio Monitor, and Remote. Worth a check out!

How does it work?

• NDI sends audio and video over your internal network, utilizing the ethernet cables or wifi networks that tie your internet devices together. Speaking of, this works best when you are hardwired. NDI can be quite unstable on wireless. With that said, NDI will send both audio and video from one PC to another over the network, allowing you to having discord, games, music, etc. on the gaming PC, and send it all over to the streaming PC for capture and pushing to the internet.

What do I need?

• Either install NDI Tools on your PC, or installed the OBS plugin. If you go the OBS plugin route, you have to have OBS Studio installed. Shocker, I know.
